...
Some time ago I was wondering around at a riding spot
when I kicked something into the bushes that sounded
strange, upon investigation it turned out to be a strange
curved piece of carbon fibre. Like a fork guard but wider..
I asked around but no one had lost anything like it
or knew what it was so it went in the boot of the car.
Eventually, several months later, I had to empty the
boot to find something else and it was at the bottom
of all the crap in the car... so it was time to see
what could be done with it. As you can see it has become
a silencer cover for my Beta..!!!
Turns out that it is
actually a silencer cover for a Scorpa 125/175 racing...
I think. I spotted a guy riding one at a recent trial and
it looks identicle. But as it is only a snap-on fit for those
machines this one must have been pinged off by something.
I used my snips that I have for cutting alluminium sheet
to cut it to the correct shape and then drilled two holes
so I could put the original Beta guard back on to hold it
in place better than Scorpa do.. as it was designed to flex
it therefore had only a thin layer of resin cover, so it
cut very cleanly Almost
looks like it was made to measure!! ...
see how long it lasts before I smash it on the rocks!!
Only thing that remains
to be done is see how much the original scorpa bit is..see
if it is worthwhile anyone else trying it!!
