Heath's
new 2008 270 Beta Rev3 gets a makeover.....
I always have a problem
with having a bike that looks identical to all of them out
there. And this year, especially around these parts, the 2008
Beta is very popular. This was born out by the fact I had to
wait over 2 months for mine to arrive after John Lampkin had
sold out of previous batches. So a visit to the SXS website
revealed a number of items I could add to the bike to make
it look a little different.....
(click image below for some more shots of the bike)

It seems so weird
removing brand new graphics from a brand new bike..!!
Although it has to be said that in the quick 2 hour
ride I had just after I picked my new 270 up my boots
had already had a go at a couple of the original stickers
so I doubt they would have lasted long!!
The list of changes
so far are:-
SXS Radycool Full graphics kit.. Top and bottom kit (fork
graphics not yet fitted),
V-Mar Top triple clamp assembly in Black,
V-Mar Master cylinder top covers in Black,
V-mar rear wheel adjusters... allows a massive amount of
adjustment, and they are Black!
SXS Radycool Silver Carbon fibre tank cover,
Jitsie Brake and Clutch adjusters in Red,
Lighting etc wiring removed and Yamaha style waterproof kill
switch added,
SXS Radycool Silver Carbon Fibre front number board,
Sherco 2008 Front Mudguard with Radycool graphic.
The original idea
was to have a black powder coated frame as well but
after seeing a few other bikes of various makes with
black frames I decided against this as they look a
nasty when the expected wear happens on various areas.
I will have to keep this bike for several years and
fully expect to change the colour scheme several times
so it was wiser to keep with the bare alluminium.
Things that are in the pipe line include Radycool Silver
Carbon Exhaust Guard and fork covers, waiting for new stock
at the SXS store!! And I will definately be changing the
footrests, hopefully to the new Jitsie ones with screw in
metal pins. All being well, and when they become available
again, I will also add an Akropovic front exhaust pipe...
for added bling and as a bonus it is much lighter!!! |
