The
first Team OGC get together...!!
.. Barry Kev and myself
took the bikes up with us to Nettleton this weekend on
the same day that we had the 2008 Beta to play with.
It kept us amused whilst others were having a play on
the Beta!!
Kev had made it known
during the week that he had been out in his garden practicing
backhops... so Barry and I were ready to be shown up
big time. Strangely before Kev could show us his skills
his rear mech mysteriously broke and he put the bike
back in the car...!!! No worries, you can use ours mate,
we said. Barry had snagged a bargain on Saturday, from
a link on the TrialsForum he had managed to get an Ashton
fully built up and ready to go for £200. This saved him
from trying to buy all the bits needed to get his Planet-X
frame up and running. So we were all set... and before
I go on I must apologise to any of the cycle crowd out
there. We are dressed like gimps because we were mainly
riding motorcycle trials on the day and it just wasn't
worth changing shoes and kit for the quick playing we
did ... so big boots and lycra are not going to be
the norm for us... honest!!
Whilst I played on the
New Beta Kev and Barry strutted their stuff.... at least
2 back-hops in a row!!! Obviously Kev had an excuse,
it wasn't his own bike and it felt all wrong..... Mine
was too high on the front and barry's was too shiney!
By the time I had come back a handfull of pallets had
been dragged into the area to form a vague section. Dave
and barry then promptly rode over them and broke them!!
Never mind, turn them over and stack them up again. Now
remember not only are we old (Barry excluded) but we
are real beginners at this lark. 3 pallets high was a
bit of a test, but it was fun watching the attempted
hops or nose dives. After a short spell of trying to
stand on the bike I actually managed to hop onto and
off the pallets... even doing a gap jump at one point...
all of 3 foot wide!! Then the piss taking started when
Kev and I started talking about your "chocolate" foot...
the rest thought we was taking the micky. We tried to
explain it was because they were out of touch with the
word on the street... but for the rest of the day we
had reference to every sweet shop product for any move
that we tried. But the bottom line is... Barry is confused
as to what his chocolate foot is. He balances with the
left foot forward but can't start a pedal kick or wheelie
with his right.... not the only problem we have to cure
but a big one no less!
Whatever the state of our riding, and it is a right
state let me tell you, we had a laugh and will be meeting
up soon for a play on the rocks at Sandbay nr Weston.
Now if I can make it when the tides in we will get some
classic pictures...!!!
All we need now is for Tony to come out on his BT and
Colin and Dave to get bikes again... what a team!!!!
